Mt Kilimanjaro Marangu Route

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport.
Transfer to your hotel in Moshi for an orientation and briefing by your trekking company.
Rest and prepare for the climb.
Day 2: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Drive to the Marangu Gate (1,860 meters / 6,102 feet).
Begin the trek through the rainforest, reaching the Mandara Hut (2,700 meters / 8,858 feet).

Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Ascend through the rainforest and then into the moorland zone.
Camp at the Horombo Hut (3,720 meters / 12,205 feet).

Day 4: Horombo Hut (Acclimatization Day)
Spend a day for acclimatization at Horombo Hut.
Optionally, take a day hike to Zebra Rocks or explore the surroundings.

Day 5: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Ascend through the alpine desert, passing the "Last Water Point."
Camp at the Kibo Hut (4,703 meters / 15,430 feet).

Day 6: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
Begin the summit attempt in the early hours, reaching Gillman's Point and then Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters / 19,341 feet) at sunrise.
Descend to Kibo Hut for a short rest and then continue to the Horombo Hut (3,720 meters / 12,205 feet).
Trekking time: approximately 11-15 hours.
Day 7: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
Descend through the moorland and rainforest zones.
Arrive at the Marangu Gate, where you receive your summit certificates.
Transfer back to Moshi for a celebratory dinner.
