Mt Kilimanjaro Shira Route

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport.
Transfer to your hotel in Moshi for an orientation and briefing by your trekking company.
Rest and prepare for the climb.
Day 2: Shira Gate to Shira 1 Camp
Drive to the Shira Gate (3,050 meters / 10,006 feet).
Begin the trek through the rainforest to reach Shira 1 Camp (3,505 meters / 11,500 feet).
Trekking time: approximately 4-6 hours.
Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp
Ascend through the heath and moorland zones.
Camp at Shira 2 Camp (3,850 meters / 12,631 feet).

Day 4: Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
Trek across the Shira Plateau and reach the Lava Tower (4,630 meters / 15,190 feet) for acclimatization.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Trekking time: approximately 11-15 hours.
Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

Receive your summit certificates and transfer back to Moshi.
